ARMOR monitors Heat Stress of Soldiers

Evalan recently completed the development of a Heat Stress Monitor for soldiers. This small wearable device determines minute-by-minute the core temperature of a soldier during an exercise. The information is streamed from the device to a tablet, with which the officer in charge of the exercise can monitor the heat load and the Physical Strain Index of each participating soldier.

Heat stress related injuries are a significant concern in armies, and occur even at moderate temperatures. During some exercises soldiers are pushed to their limits, build-up heat inside protective clothing, and loose the ability to effectively determine when they cross the line to injuries. These injuries can lead to significant and permanent damage. There are currently no good tools available for staff members to identify soldiers at risk during these exercises.

Evalan’s ARMOR Heat Stress Monitor was co-developed with the Dutch Army and is being rolled out to several training centers, such that eventually each soldier that participates in a strenuous exercise will carry the device.
