Evalan has concluded an agreement with KPN for IoT Connectivity. As part of this agreement, KPN is adding Evalan’s IoT solutions to its “KPN Things Device catalog”. A new European project, NextPerception, is developing intelligent sensing technology for the next generation of solutions for the healthcare and automotive industry. On the one hand, the focus of the project is on patient-centered care, in which improved monitoring systems aim at early detection and prevention of deterioration in health. On the other hand, sensor solutions are being developed for the automotive industry to improve pedestrian safety and automated driving. To properly manage the Handicarts, Evalan has developed a payment and fleet management system that enables the Handicart Foundation to manage the fleet remotely and to arrange the rental of the carts more easily. This fleet management system consists of a Portal and RFID terminals with which users can make reservations and check in. The system is used satisfactorily and has recently been expanded with new functions. The technology of the current terminals dates from 2014. To enable new developments, Handicart asked Evalan to supply 250 new terminals.

Evalan participated in the European project Energy for Smart Objects (EnSO). The project, which was recently successfully completed, focused on an indispensable part of an IoT device; energy. The aim of the project was to develop Autonomous Micro Energy Sources (AMES) for IoT devices to extend battery life with as little energy as possible. As a result of this project, Evalan created a Smart Care solution consisting of the combination of a wireless sensor network and a wearable sensor that monitors various physical parameters. The focus was on reducing the energy consumption of both the wearable sensor and the bGrid node, the sensor that forms the basis of the eponymous wireless smart building sensor network.
